How do you talk, whether alone or in public? Are the words different? Are the meanings different? Is you tone different for different people? Do you take God’s name in vain? Most of us, especially with that last question would say no. But how often do we hear people use the word “God” as an exclamation or curse? OMG has become a lexicon for texters. When I was young we could not even use the words, “Gee,” or “, “Gosh”…..
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. Scholars differ on any time when this incident occurs. Jesus has left the temple, walking right past those who are in a frenzy to kill Him. It’s not His time yet so God must have blinded their eyes for a moment. Now, maybe the same day, maybe days later, we’re not told, Jesus and His disciples come across this man who has been blind since he…..
During my quiet time recently, I was asking God what I was to speak on. I was in need of something for the nursing home as well as the two blogs I post. That morning God gave this to me. It’s a reminder of just how great His love for us is, how much He cares for His people, and about His promise never to desert us nor leave us unprotected by His mighty hand. Do you really, deep down…..
A Loving God I mentioned before how I have been reading the Psalms lately, especially Psalm 119. I have always heard it mentioned that King David wrote this Psalm. Then, lately I found that it is called an orphan Psalm” because the writer did not identify himself like in some of the others. A Jewish site “vesomsechel.blogspot.com,” gives several reasons why the writer of the blog feels it was indeed written by David. He names some Rabbis who say…..
Here’s just a note of encouragement to those of us just getting along. I memorized the first two verses as a young person but sometimes I forget about them. I love the comfort and encouragement I get from the Psalms, and Dr. Chambers words that follow add to that. Psalm 121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow…..
Precisely because He is zealous for His holiness, God’s judgment saves all who call upon Him – that is, all who worship Him in spirit and in truth. Lesson Passage: Zephaniah 3:8-17 Lesson passages taken from the Good News Bible Memory Verse for this week: Zep 3:17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with…..
A few weeks ago, during my quiet time with the Lord, I was led to a couple of verses in Paul’s 2nd letter to the Corinthians. Because all of us are in the “senior citizen” category, this chapter struck me as very relevant. There are several places in the Word of God where God has promised not to forget those who have aged in years. Sometimes when we get discouraged because we can’t walk like we used to, we can’t…..
I love the Psalms, the songs of King David. They teach us, they comfort us, they help in our prayers to God. Many things I’ll say to day I have said over and over, but they seem to be things that need to be said, to you, to me, to anyone who needs God. And who doesn’t need God? Today I want to look at Psalm 65. Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; And to You the vow…..
Precisely because He is zealous for His holiness, God’s judgment saves all who call upon Him – that is, all who worship Him in spirit and in truth. Background Passage: Zephaniah 3:1-3:20 Lesson Passage: Zephaniah 3:8-17 Lesson passages taken from the Good News Bible Transform. That’s a word that seems to be popular right now. I have heard it on ads for life insurance, investments, dentistry, skin creams, and more. “Use this, take this, do this and transform your life.” …..
Background Passage: Zephaniah 1:1-2:15 (NKJV) Lesson Passage: Zephaniah 1:1-11 Memory verse: Zeph. 2:3: T urn to the LORD, all you humble people of the land, who obey his commands. Do what is right, and humble yourselves before the LORD. Perhaps you will escape punishment on the day when the LORD shows his anger. Much like God’s holy judgment against the earth in Noah’s day, so is His judgment against idolatry brought to bear in any spectacular day of the Lord……
